A Message from Superintendent Sementi

Hello West Valley,
We accomplished outstanding academic work this winter capped off with close to 70% approval of the School Programs and Operations Levy and our Technology, Safety, Security and Facilities Capital Projects Levy.  We are grateful to our patrons for their continued support and I am grateful to our hard-working staff for getting “skin in the game” in support of our kids.
We are dedicated to district-wide safety and work diligently to find ways to improve.  We recently launched the SafeSchools Alert System providing an avenue for students, parents and patrons to report safety concerns.  To learn more about this new safety feature, click here.   We are also adding SMS (text) messaging to our student/family access system in order to communicate emergency information via smartphone text messaging.
We will celebrate Classified Appreciation week in March and I would like to extend a special thank you to all our classified staff for all you do day in and day out for WVSD.  Thank you for giving your best for the children of West Valley!

With Gratitude,
Dr. Gene

Safety and Security

Safety for student and staff continues to be a major focus.  Our Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), comprised of district leaders and our School Resource Deputy, is trained and prepared to respond to emergencies.  Our School Messenger  notification system can connect with parents in minutes, providing information and instructions.  As always, building perimeter doors are locked during school hours and entrances are monitored.   All schools have "panic button" alarm systems insuring immediate law enforcement response in an emergency.   Double door entries have been installed at seven of our schools and remodeling plans are in place for the remaining four schools.  A district-wide surveillance camera system has also increased safety.  Two security officers are employed full time by the district, assisting with safety-related issues.  Our SafeSchools Alert system has been activated for individuals to report a safety concern.  If you would like more information on West Valley's safety procedures please call (509)340-7204 or email us at
Thank you West Valley Patrons for your generous support of the West Valley School Programs and Operations Levy and our Technology, Safety, Security, and Facilities Improvement Capital Projects Levy. The approval of theses levies will continue to provide high quality programs and services for our students.

Our thoughts are with Ron Jackson whose mother passed away, and Brenda Way on the loss of her father.

Congratulations to Nichole Zamora on the January 31st birth of her son, Kasen.  Little Kasen is also the grandson of Larry Bush.   Also to Dena Klein on the February 6th birth of her son Scott Harris.
